Winter Bible Verses

Winter is a season to be enjoyed just as any other in life. The Bible has much to say about winter time. What follows are some lovely verses about this time of year. Though the world may seem bleak and gray outside, we always have the love of Jesus to warm our hearts and homes! Have a blessed day everyone!

~Winter Bible Verses~

“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” ~Genesis 18:22

“It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter.” ~Psalm 74:17

“He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’” ~Job 37:6

“Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!… He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth His ice as fragments, Who can stand before His cold? He sends forth His word and melts them He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.” ~Psalm 147:12-18

“From whose womb has come the ice? And the frost of heaven, who has given it birth?” ~Job 38:29

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire. And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” ~Isaiah 55:10-12

“Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold. From the breath of God ice is made,¬†And the expanse of the waters is frozen.” ~Job 37:9-10

“Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest Is a faithful messenger to those who send him, For he refreshes the soul of his masters.” ~Proverbs 25:13

“Like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar on soda, Is he who sings songs to a troubled heart.” ~Proverbs 25:20

Great verses,of course! I love the verses in Isaiah. I thought perhaps you would add some metaphors that apply to your life or others, with the winter theme. These verses stand on their own.

It seems when people use winter and night as metaphors, they are trying and gloomy. There is refreshing in winter and there are wonders of the night. God’s creation is truly wonder full!

I have many standing in prayer with me for the restoration of my marriage and would be honored to know that you continue to do so. My wifes’s name is Beth. Thank you and God’s continual blessings and refreshing to you. I hope this finds you well!

    • Hi Stan,

I thought I was really going to dislike winter. It’s rainy, cold, grey and everything looks dead here. It’s always sunny in winter and every season in San Diego. We haven’t had much snow this year in Boise except in the nearby mountains. The truth is that I’m really, really enjoying winter! God’s word is also an encouragement to read about the season. God made all seasons for a purpose! Last week I got to go snowshoeing for the very first time at Bogus Basin, a nearby mountain where everyone does their favorite snow sports. It was so beautiful up there. The layers of snow blanketing the earth made winter look radiant! Winter has been refreshing for my soul. I like that word refreshing that you used. I enjoy warm fires in the fireplace with Mark in the evenings and good movies. :)

I have been praying for you (I hate when people just say they will pray for you but never mean it), and I will continue to stand with you in prayer and encouragement. Thank you for sharing your wife’s name with me. I will use it in my prayers. I am so encouraged to hear that you are not giving up on your marriage and that God has given hope that it will be restored. AMEN! I have a special prayer request. I am praying about going back to school. I have a lot of mixed feelings about whether or not this is the right path for me at this point in my life right now. I have an online information session about a specialized certificate program in copyediting at UCSD tonight. One of my friends here also gave me two contacts for copy editors at her workplace. I was in grad school for a year and half before we moved to Boise, but I had to suddenly move with Mark here. I was able to get a certificate for the program before I moved, but I would have to move back to San Diego to complete the Masters program. It was very difficult to leave the program half way through so quickly. This program at UCSD would be a certificate program in a different field, and every course is online. This is good since Mark and I have to relocate in another year and few months. I have enjoyed the balance in my household between part-time work and making my home a priority since we moved here. I prayed along time for this to happen. I don’t want school to destroy this balance. I am also trying to conceive right now, which could really throw a curve through any plans for school. Mark may also plan to go back to school right around the time I would be going through the final stages of completing this program. Thank you for all of your prayers and encouragement!

      Have a blessed day!

      Christina
